Milford, KS, May 28, 2024 – David Schneider, a dedicated community leader and seasoned professional, has officially announced his candidacy for the Kansas Senate in District 17, which encompasses Lyon County, Morris County, and parts of Geary County, including Junction City.

David Schneider is running as a steadfast Republican candidate with a robust background in business, finance, and public service. The seat is currently held by Sen. Jeff Longbine, who has announced his retirement.

“With a focus on bolstering our local economy, enhancing public safety, and protecting the property rights of rural Kansans, I am excited to enter this race,” Schneider said. “My extensive experience in business, banking, and community advocacy equips me with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the challenges facing our district.”

David Schneider brings a wealth of experience to his campaign:

Business Acumen: As the owner of an insurance claims inspection business and a former business banker, Schneider understands the critical role small businesses play in driving local economic growth.

Financial Expertise: With 18 years in the banking industry, Schneider has a deep understanding of financial management and economic development.

Community Service: Schneider recently retired from the non-profit group, Citizens for Self-Governance, Convention of States Project, where he served as the Regional Director and the first Kansas State Director. Since 2013, he has been advocating for constitutional reform, state rights, and building engaged citizen-led coalitions, successfully passing legislation in six different states throughout the Midwest.

Schneider is deeply rooted in the community. His wife, Cecilia Russell, is a social worker at Fort Riley, overseeing the Family Advocacy Program at Irwin Army Community Hospital and serving as a first responder for child protection services and domestic violence. Together, they are committed to making a positive impact in their community with integrity and a vision for Kansas.

Together, they have six children, three of whom work in Kansas public schools, reinforcing their dedication to public education. Two of their children are graduates of Emporia State University, with another a graduate of Kansas State University, highlighting their support for higher education in the Flint Hills.

David Schneider is a graduate of Fort Hays State University, where he excelled as a varsity wrestler. He grew up in Arkansas City, Kansas, and is a part of their wrestling dynasty, capturing the Kansas state championship all four years.

Key issues for the Schneider campaign include:

Economic Development: Promoting job growth and supporting local businesses to ensure a thriving economy.

Public Safety: Enhancing support for our military and first responder communities to ensure they have the resources needed to keep our communities safe.

Property Rights: Ensuring future generations of rural Kansans have the means and ability to provide food security to the nation and the freedom to be the best stewards of our natural resources in the Flint Hills.

Fiscal Responsibility: Advocating for lower taxes to make living in Kansas more affordable for all residents while streamlining the government to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.

David Schneider is committed to serving the people of District 17 with integrity, dedication, and a vision for a prosperous future. He looks forward to meeting with constituents across the district and discussing how, together, they can build a stronger, more vibrant Kansas.
