Tony Bergida Announces Candidacy for 6th District Johnson County Commissioner

Olathe, KS – Olathe Planning Commissioner Tony Bergida has announced his campaign for the Johnson County Commission in the 6th District.

“I’m running for County Commission in Johnson County because I see the potential and promise that Johnson County holds for our families and neighbors,” Tony Bergida said.

“My family is invested in this community. I’m a husband and father of three amazing kids, homeowner, and Olathe businessman,” Bergida continued. “For decades, Johnson County has been the “go to” community for families and businesses seeking a safe and prosperous community in which to put down roots – including my own. Advancing and maintaining the desirable quality of life in Johnson County must be the County Commission’s top priority.”

Bergida highlighted public safety, lowering property taxes, and maintaining Johnson County’s world-class parks as his top priorities.

“As a parent, I’m acutely aware of the concerns and dreams we all share for our children’s future – public safety, strong schools, and a vibrant, supportive community. As a homeowner, I understand the frustration with taxes going up for some residents while the county makes sweetheart tax-giveaways to special interests,” Bergida said. “The County Commission has lost sight of its mission to govern in a manner that benefits our families, local businesses, and build a strong foundation for the future.”

“I am running for County Commission to return the Commission’s focus to priorities that matter to our quality of life,” Bergida noted. “Together, we can provide a safer, more prosperous, and more affordable community.”

Bergida is endorsed by former District 6 County Commissioner John Toplikar and will release a slate of endorsements in the coming weeks. Lana Sutton, Vice President of the Gardner-Edgerton School Board, will serve as Campaign Treasurer.

Tony Bergida is a financial manager for a midwestern research and development company responsible for innovations in various industrial sectors. His experience in an ever-changing industry has honed his expertise in crafting and executing complex financial strategies, with a focus on responsible and sustainable fiscal management.

Bergida also serves on the Olathe Planning Commission where he has worked to guide city development to advance Olathe as a top community in which to live, work and raise a family.

Additionally, Bergida serves the community as a volunteer with the Knights of Columbus and the Olathe Rotary Club, and is an active member of the Gardner, DeSoto, and Olathe Chambers of Commerce.
Tony Bergida resides in Olathe with his wife Anna and their three children. The Bergidas attend St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Olathe.
